Hello and Welcome. I'm so glad you are here.
We live in a world with multiple pressures and stressors, often having to navigate the expectations from others and those we put on ourselves. Many of us often feel stuck and overwhelmed by those pressures. You are not alone, and there is help.
We all have parts of ourselves that we want to work on, maybe an anxious part, a self-critical part, a part that can say mean things, or is highly reactive. All of your parts are welcome here in therapy.
I have 25 years of experience working with a variety of populations, from children to older adults. I’ve been privileged to help people navigate through various life situations including conflicts in relationships, depression, anxiety, stress, grief and chronic illness.
I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. My work has focused on supporting adults living with serious mental illness across diverse settings—from outpatient therapy and crisis respite to reentry services and multidisciplinary treatment teams. This breadth of experience has taught me that meaningful change happens when people feel respected, heard, and truly understood.

“Sometimes I’ll start a sentence and I don’t even know where it’s going.” (Michael Scott) Hi! My name is Alyssa (she/her), and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I attended the CUNY College of Staten Island and received my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been working in this field since 2019 and completed my internship working with Children of Substance Abusers, as well as their caregivers. From there, I worked in two private mental health practices, working with children, teens, and young adults in a variety of areas/modalities.
I conduct sessions with children, teens, young adults, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have experience working with clients who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Social Anxiety, School-Related Anxiety, Grief/Loss, Anger, Relationship Conflicts, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Day-to-Day Life Stressors.
Life can be overwhelming, especially when you're navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, or the uncertainty of infertility and perinatal challenges. I offer a grounded, nonjudgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we’ll unpack the patterns, stories, and stressors that may be keeping you stuck, and build practical tools to help you feel more confident, connected, and in control.
I work with adults of all ages with a focus on supporting individuals through life transitions: career burnout, relationship shifts, identity changes, and the complexities of becoming (or deciding not to become) a parent.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step and I am here to work collaboratively with you in a safe, supportive, and liberated space. I would like to help you feel less alone with difficult feelings and experience a greater sense of self-agency and fulfillment in your life. I have over 10 years of experience and extensive post-graduate training specializing in depression, anxiety, complex trauma, issues related to identity, and I offer particular attunement to individuals who identify as LGBTQAI+.
My background is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy/psychoanalysis and my approach to therapy is determined by the needs of each individual, which will make our time together a powerful space for self-reflection and growth. Our work together will be an opportunity for you to share your pain and perhaps for the first time, feel heard and understood.
My style is warm, active, and deeply nurturing. If you're having difficulty getting out of bed in the morning, struggling from what seems like uncontrollable worry, or feeling lost and isolated, I am happy to connect with you. You can reach me via a phone call, a text, or email at 347-378-7784 and I will get back to you within 24 hours, Monday-Friday.
I a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT); I specialize in the treatment of sexually compulsive behavior / sexual addiction, pornography addiction, betrayal trauma, and infidelity issues. I am also experienced in working with PTSD & Traumas, substance use problems, phone and technology addictions, depression, anxiety, grief, anger management, and family of origin issues, among other issues. Additionally, I have specialty training in treatment for adults in parent-enmeshed relationships.
What inspired me to become a psychotherapist? Witnessing the challenges people face in life and being captivated by superheroes as a child. Helping others is my passion—it feels like I'm living my childhood dreams. My experience in state psychiatric centers, working with individuals dealing with severe and persistent mental health issues, solidified my desire to assist those with social and emotional needs. While working as a school counselor was rewarding, I felt compelled to offer more comprehensive services beyond psycho-educational workshops. Pursuing clinical therapy was a natural progression for me. I earned my mental health counseling degree at LIU Post and furthered my expertise with certifications and training in CBT, internal family systems, ACT, and logotherapy. These skills enable me to assist clients with reparenting, anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress management, co-parenting, couples counseling, family therapy, and emotional regulation. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I bring an interactive and down-to-earth approach to therapy. My goal is to equip you with a practical skill set that promotes growth and fulfillment. I look forward to meeting you and helping you live the life you envision!
