I received my Master of Social Work from East Carolina University and have been practicing as a therapist for 11 years. I believe the foundation of effective therapy lies in a strong therapeutic relationship- one built on trust, openness, and authenticity. I am known for my open-minded, nonjudgmental, and creative approach, helping my clients feel understood and supported as we work together toward growth and healing.
My name is Elizabeth Yopp and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience working with children 12 and above, as well as adults of all ages. I'm open-minded and non judgmental, with a patient, flexible and easygoing nature. I value empathy and compassion, have a good sense of humor and pride myself on being an attentive, active listener. I enjoy helping individuals navigate life challenges, such as adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, grief and occupational or relationship difficulties, so they can move forward in a positive direction.
I am a licensed psychologist providing services across the lifespan, although my training has provided me with a strong understanding of child and adolescent development, school based difficulties, and learning differences. I completed my doctorate in School Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD). My master’s degree was completed in Counseling & Guidance at New York University. I specialize in treating children and teens with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including ADHD and autism.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, flexible, and informed by evidence-based practices. I provide individual psychotherapy for children and adolescents to address a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress-related difficulties, academic challenges, emotional difficulties, behavioral challenges, and relationship challenges.
Together, we'll consider what isn’t working and develop insights for how to change. I combine multiple treatment techniques, including CBT, DBT, and other behavioral/solution-focused approaches. I would be happy to speak with you about ways we may be able to work together to meet your needs. You are welcome to call or email to set up an initial consultation.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Originally from Chicago, I earned my MA from University of Chicago in 1998, and since then I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings including domestic violence shelters, a foster care/adoption agency, and a parenting organization as well as managing a private practice where I currently reside in North Carolina. I work with clients affected by anxiety, depression, life changes, trauma, parenting and relationship challenges.
With over 15 years of experience, I have worked with children, adults, and families in diverse roles (counseling, education, disability services, healthcare, and social services). These experiences have equipped me with versatility and empathy towards the various challenges faced by individuals (spouses, parents, caregivers & employees). Currently, my focus is on clients ages 18 - geriatric who are dealing with anxiety/depression stemming from stress, life transitions, relationships, and trauma.
I work with individuals who have trouble with managing stress and relationships. It can be hard to life without effective coping skills and someone to help. I do my best to listen to my client's needs and help them get to where they want to go.
I believe healing happens through connection. I work collaboratively with clients, guiding them to understand the roots of their struggles, develop healthier coping skills, and build a life of balance and purpose. I bring authenticity, insight, and gentle honesty into my sessions.
