With over 15 years of experience, including my time as an Army Logistics and Medical Officer, I’ve learned that success in high-pressure environments requires more than just hard work, it requires the right strategy. I feel privileged to help my clients achieve their goals and improve their lives by clearing the mental blocks that stand in their way.
My background in the military and corporate leadership gives me a unique perspective on the weight of responsibility. Outside of the office, you might find me spending time with my certified therapy cat, Burger, who sometimes assists in our work together. I am deeply committed to providing a space where my clients feel safe and empowered during their time with me, ensuring that our work translates into real-world resilience and confidence.
I earned my Masters in Social Work, and am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. I also earned a Masters in Science in Hospice and Palliative Studies. I started this degree in Michigan, but I did my internship after I moved here in the Bereavement Department of Four Seasons Hospice in Flat Rock NC. I have continued to learn through Continuing Education. I am a lifelong learner, so I continue to learn and to teach and utilize what I have gained with clients in session. I have trained extensively in Mindfulness, Self Compassion, Compassion Focused Therapy, Grief and Loss, and Death and Dying, and Non Violent Communication. I am also trained in and utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
In my past position of working as clinical Therapist, a large part of my clientele was working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Communication, and focusing on working with women primarily. I would like to continue to with that focus. In the past I also worked with children and families with Intensive In Home, and people who were homeless, primarily women, with ABCCM. I learned a lot through these experiences that benefit me with my current work.
I enjoy empowering clients with ADHD to understand their gifts and strengths, and to learn ways to feel supported with the struggles of living with ADHD, by learning new coping skills, psycho education, to gain new insights, and feel stronger within themselves.
I have focused much of my clinical enjoy working with women, especially older women, guiding them toward fierce compassion, along with re-creating themselves as they are grow in strength and feel their possibilities in a new way.
My name is Alethia King, and I am a License Clinical Mental Health Counselor and an Advanced Certified Grief Specialist. I specialize in working with adults who struggle with grief and anxiety issues. I have 24 years of clinical experience. I help by providing education and support in the grief process. I utilize empathy and compassion during this difficult time. In our first few sessions, you can expect a relaxed atmosphere where we share your loss and how you have been coping with your loss.
I have been providing outpatient therapy in Wilmington NC for 20 years. I work with families, children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I am experienced treating people with depression, anxiety, school issues, relationship issues, difficult family dynamics, couples issues, and parenting difficulties. My approach is empowering and non threatening as well as solution focused and goal oriented. I will help people build on their strengths to improve their lives
Starting therapy and finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, especially when life already feels stressful! With over six years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan, including young children, adolescents, and adults.
I support clients in navigating a range of challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship concerns, and student athletes balancing academic/social/athletic pressures. I also have experience supporting children/adolescents with ASD, ODD, ADHD, and other developmental or behavioral challenges, as well as supporting the parent/caregiver of the child/adolescent.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Boston College, where I specialized in working with children, youth, and families. I currently provide therapy services to clients in both New York and North Carolina.
